Dag Dehlavi’s name and status is very high among the master poets and he is distinguished among other poets of his time because of his words.
He was well mentioned in the royal court, nawabs and nobles and often received scholarships. Along with poetry, head and rhythm, dance concerts were also well organized in this period. The stain was also applied not only to the famous singers and prostitutes of his time but also to their correspondence.
When he wrote a letter to a prostitute, he not only wrote with special care but also prepared a special envelope for her. He would decorate it with vines and send the decorated envelope inside another envelope.
One such letter is mentioned by his dear disciple Noah Norway. This letter was written by Dagh to the prostitute Nabi Jan. In this regard, Noah Norway says:
When I was asked to write this address in an envelope with a vine, I did not write anything for a while, I was told why not write. I said, “Excuse me, the post office seals will ruin the work of this envelope. If there is an order, I will put this envelope in another big envelope and write the address on the big envelope, but no one on this envelope.” There must be a lion.
First the teacher smiled, then immediately informed:
Hobby did not open, kept the veil of love
So we put the envelope in the envelope
(Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali Zaidi, with reference to Fasih-ul-Mulk by Noah Norway)
