Pakistani actresses who did not promote white creams

KARACHI: Leading Pakistani actors have said that they did not advertise whitening or skin-enhancing creams.

A British journalist tweeted on a social networking site and asked if anyone could name me after Pakistani and Bollywood stars who refused to work in advertisements for white creams.

After her tweet, Pakistani actresses tweeted that they had rejected such an advertisement despite the offer.

Leading Pakistani actresses include Ayesha Omar, Mahira Khan, Sanam Saeed, Hareem Farooq and singer Momina Mustahasan.

The Pakistani actresses responded to the tweet by saying that they refused to do such work despite being offered huge compensation.

Actress Sanam Saeed wrote that she has never acted in such advertisements.

Replying to Sanam Saeed’s tweet, Ayesha Omar wrote, “I have never worked in such advertisements and have no such intention in the future.”

“I have been offered to work in such advertisements in the past, but never intended to work in such advertisements,” he added.

Internationally acclaimed Pakistani actress Mahira Khan wrote, “I have never worked in such advertisements, even when I was working as a VJ, I refused to work.”

Actress Hareem Farooq also said that she is one of those who do not work. Singer Momina Mustahasan said in her tweet that she too has never acted in such advertisements.

“I have always rejected the offer to promote bleaching products. If we all act responsibly in this way, change can come,” she wrote.

Actress Zara Noor Abbas also shared a video of a black African girl speaking out against racism on her Instagram account.
