My heart is broken, I have not left anywhere and I am coming from Chanda’s city. The anniversary of Nazim Panipati, the creator of beautiful songs like Nandia, is being celebrated today.
On June 18, 1998, the life journey of this famous Pakistani film lyricist came to an end forever. He is buried in Lahore.
Nazim Panipati’s real name was Muhammad Ismail. Born on November 15, 1920 in Lahore, Nazim Panipati’s elder brother Wali Sahib and his brother-in-law Mumtaz Shanti belonged to the film world. Nazim Panipati started singing for films from Lahore. For films like Khazanchi, Punji, Yamla Jutt, Chaudhry, Zamindar and Shirin Farhad, he showed his creativity and gained fame and status.
He lived in Bombay for about ten years, writing songs for more than 25 films. His popular films include Majboor, Bihar, Sheesh Mahal, Ladli, Shaadi, Heer Ranjha and others.
Among the films for which he wrote memorable songs in Pakistan are Lakht-e-Jagar, Shahi Faqir, Sohaili, Betti and Insaniyat.
Apart from Urdu, he also wrote songs in Punjabi and wrote scripts for several films.
