Mushtaq Ahmed Yousifi, still alive in millions of hearts






Mushtaq Ahmed Yousifi, a promising Urdu comedian, passed away two years ago, but he is still alive in the hearts of the people through his writings.


Mushtaq Ahmed Yousifi passed away on June 20, 2018 at the age of 96 after a long illness. He was one of the greatest Urdu comedians. Yousifi Sahib has millions of fans.


Mushtaq Ahmed Yousifi was born on September 4, 1921, in the Tonk district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. After completing his primary education, he decided to pursue an MA in philosophy and enrolled at Agra University.



Yousifi’s LLB stage was decided from Aligarh Muslim University, he came to Karachi after Partition of India, took up banking and reached the highest position.

He was a role model in comics. Five of his books were published in 1961 – Under the Lamp, 1969 Khakim Badhan, 1976 – Zargasht, 1990 – Ab-e-Gum, 2014 Sham-e-Sheer-e-Yaran. Each of his books set sales records.



In recognition of his services, the Government of Pakistan awarded him the Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz medals in 1999.
